Extension 1: Zhongdian/Yading (Last Shangri-la)-11 days –
 
 

            
Day 01 . Zhongdian to Niru (B/L/D)
Drive to Niru Village, the outpost of Zhongdian, where we prepare and get ready for the trekking to Yading. Overnight at our horseman ’s home

Day 02.  Niru – Nanbao Pasture (B/L/D) (5 hours trek )
Today we begin the treking. Hike in the dense arrow-bamboo forest along the winding and steep footpath. Pass by the pearl-like Napo Lake. Trek on the herdsmen’s pasture. The hills under the feet slope gently. Finally we reach Nanbao Pasture. En route take photos to these lovely alpine flowers. Camping

Day 03.  Nanbao Pasture – Kum Tso (Walk 20Km , 8 hours trek ) (B/L/D)
Today we trek about 18 km to the amazing Kum Tso lake. Trek through the wild forest and then climb over the lofty snow mountain once more. Keep going to the lake. The Lake is surrounded by mountains and as blue as a great jade inlayed between the sky and the earth. This night we camping out by the beautiful lake. Camping

Day 04. Kum Tso – Nigong (Walk 20Km) (B/L/D) (8 hours trek )
Cross over a pass (4,800 meters) and descend the mountain to Gala Pasture. Trek on the bare snow mountain ridge and traverse the wild forest full of azalea blossoms. Finally we reach Nigong, the only village today we seen and camp by the village. Camping

Day 05 .Nigong - Dongyi District (Walk 10Km) (B/L/D) (5 hours trek)
Start the second phase of trekking from Nigong. The future journey will become more laborious than before. Anyhow the scenery is absolutely amazing on the way as we trek in the areas of no signs of human habitation. Long horse-ways stretch into the dense wild forest. 1N at simple guesthouse

Day 06 . Dongyi District – Kashi village (15Km in vehicle) (B/L/D)
In the morning our trekking crew hires one local jeep to Kashi village. Early in the afternoon we reach Kashi village . The Kashi village is the month to the Hell Valley. Taking photos around the village. Camping

Day 07 . Kashi village – Diyu Gu ( Hell Valley )(10 Km, 7 hours trek ) (B/L/D)
Trekking all the way up , getting close to the one of the three Holy Snow Mountain along the valley , through the forest . No residents live near by . It is one of the hardest day but also the most beautiful scenery . Camping .

Day 08 . Diyu Gu – Lorong Pasture  (12 Km , 7 hours trek ) (B/L/D)
Continuation for climbing , over a snow mountain pass (4800 m.) . Getting to the  center of Yading –Lorong Pasture , which is surrounded by 3 holy mountains . Enjoying the paradise –The Last Shang-rila . Night in the guest house .

Day 09 . Lorong Pasture-Chonggu Temple-Daocheng Town (60 Km in vehicle, 2 hours trek) (B/L/D)
Trekking all the way down to the ruined temple Chonggu about 7 km. , meet the  jeep and transfer to the Town Daocheng . Night in Daocheng hotel**.

Day10 .Daocheng-Xiangcheng  (in jeep) (B/L/D)
Driving to Xiangcheng by the jeep . Visit the largest Lamastery in the west of Sichuan in Litang on the way . Check in Xiangcheng hotel**.

Day 11 . Xiangcheng - Zhongdian (330 Km in jeep , 7 hours riding ) (B/L/D)
Road back to Zhongdian , via a mountain pass  (4500m.) , Shangri-la valley . Finishing the trip at the hotel in Zhongdian .
